Trenton Makes-Words! is a free vocabulary program to get Trenton children ages 0-5 ready for kindergarten. Sessions support engagement between children and their parents/caregivers through themes based on cultural traditions, science, music, and art. All programs are designed to strengthen bonds between children and their parents or caregivers, encouraging families to use fun, easy learning activities in their everyday.
A Community Initiative
Trenton Makes—Words! is a community partnership between the New Jersey State Museum, The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey, and the Trenton Community Music School.
Supported by a $1 million grant from the PNC Foundation, the Grow Up Great program arrives in Trenton as a two-year partnership between the New Jersey State Museum, The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey, and the Trenton Community Music School. Trenton becomes the 10th city to receive this substantial PNC support as part of a national effort towards early childhood education.
Educators guide fun, interactive sessions to foster engagement between children and their parents and caregivers. Singing, storytelling, dancing, playing, and a warm meal are all part of each of the 2-hour sessions offered. All programs take place at informal and safe settings to ensure comfortable learning environments for families and their children.
