Maternal Child Health
Our Maternal & Child Health programs are designed to educate and increase awareness about preconception, prenatal and inter-conception care among women of all ages. Programs have been developed to address critically needed services and cultural sensitivities for Latina and African American women in Mercer and Ocean Counties. As this is a significant time in a woman’s life, our educational services are designed to provide women with the knowledge of how to access holistic care for their minds and bodies.
The primary objectives for our maternal-child programs are:
- To provide resources, education and services in collaboration with community partners on topics related to preconception, prenatal and inter-conception health.
- To increase linkages to early prenatal care beginning in the first trimester to improve positive birth outcomes through early pregnancy education.
- To educate women about prevention and early signs and symptoms of premature births as well as the risks of delivering prior to the 37th week.
- To educate women and their partners about healthy lifestyles and reproductive life planning skills to improve preconception and inter-conception health.
