Join Our Auxiliary

The Auxiliary Board aka The Trenton Auxiliary (right) of The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey was founded in 1963 by women in the area who were concerned about the area’s at-risk infant foster babies. Their sincere concern motivated them enough to form a group committed to raising funds and promoting good public relations for the agency. Today, more than forty years later, four of their charter members continue to actively participate. They have all fostered special relationships through this group and have all found their involvement to be personally rewarding.
Currently, their major fundraiser is their Annual Brunch with Santa which offers a visit and photos with Santa for all children, games, refreshments, homemade crafts, and features an original Christmas play. This is held annually on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. They also hold their annual “Tea” which offers guests the ability to preorder the homemade crafts that will be sold at Brunch with Santa. A number of the women also consider themselves part of the “Tuesday Girls” which is held in the home of one of the charter members. It is there that the women sew, paint, craft, and simply enjoy one another’s company. In addition, they hold a Foster Parents Shower every year and bring in presents for all of the babies. Each year the women look forward to their Candlelight Installation Dinner where the new officers are sworn in. Lastly, The Auxiliary Board also participates in the Bucks County Auxiliary’s Annual Red Rose Day fundraiser.

The Bucks County Auxiliary Board was founded shortly after in 1968 with a small group of adoptive mothers and their friends. One of their original members still actively participates. In order to get the much needed and desired publicity in Eastern Pennsylvania, the ladies gathered their friends together and had their first project which was a geranium sale.
Today, over 30 years later, their biggest and most successful fundraiser is Red Rose Day. For two full days, members of both the Trenton and Bucks Auxiliaries, CHS of NJ staff, friends, family and volunteers sell and deliver their beautiful long stemmed roses throughout Bucks and Mercer Counties.
The other successful event lead by the Bucks County Auxiliary is their Annual Fall Auction. Many months of planning are spent to make this auction a success. During the evening, a Silent, Live, and Chinese auction all take place. Guests are encouraged to place their high bids and enjoy homemade goodies.
The spirit of both groups remains strong as they continue to help our mission of saving lives.
