Foster Care Initiative

photoThe Foster Care Initiative provides counseling and support services to DYFS resource families and their children. One of the services is Foster Care Support (Parent Advocate), where resource families are offered supportive services for their first placement as well as for their foster children who are being placed for the very first time. These services are meant to assist and enable resource families in making connections within the community in order to meet their child’s needs, i.e., school, medical care, etc. and to ease transitions and separations that the child may be experiencing The second service is In Home Behavioral Counseling which is provided to children needing additional support in making an adjustment to their resource family. Every child initially placed in Foster Care by DYFS should be referred to receive this service as should Resource Families accepting a child(ren) into their home. Contact
